Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a nonprofit grassroots organization that seeks effective solutions to the problems of drunk driving and underage drinking. MADD also offers support to victims and their families. It works for the adoption of new laws to counter drunk driving, as well as to strengthen enforcement of existing laws. The organization’s community programs focus on increasing public awareness in an effort to reduce drunk driving. Among MADD’s many publications are a semiannual magazine, MADDvocate, and a newsletter, MADD in Action.
